KTM Junior Supercross Challenge set for Round 4 and 5 of the Australian Supercross Championship

In a coup for grassroots Supercross, KTM Junior Supercross will make its highly-anticipated return to both Australia and New Zealand with the KTM Junior Supercross. The KTM Junior Supercross is set to feature at this year’s Monster Energy S-X Open Auckland and Monster Energy AUS-X Open Melbourne events on November 16 & November 30 respectively which are Rounds 4 and 5 of the Australian Supercross Championship.

The KTM Junior Supercross offers the future superstars of Supercross the opportunity to ride in front of a packed-out crowd at Mt Smart Stadium or Marvel Stadium, with the competition open to children aged seven and eight-years-old only, and riders that have at least one year of competition experience.

“We’re so delighted to be welcoming back the KTM Junior Supercross to both the S-X Open Auckland and AUS-X Open Melbourne events, again in 2019,” explained events Co-Founder Adam Bailey.

“Taking part in the KTM Junior Supercross is a great opportunity for the young riders to immerse themselves at Australian Supercross Championship events and gain invaluable experience that they will never forget as they forge their own path to the top of the Australian Supercross ranks.

“As far as the events go, KTM Junior Supercross is one of the most popular aspects of entertainment on the schedule, the crowds go absolutely wild and get right behind these junior racers, and with the AUS-X Open moving to Melbourne and expected to have over 30,000 attendees, it will truly be the most spectacular moment in these young riders’ careers.”

Each successful KTM Junior Supercross applicant in New Zealand and Australia will be treated to a full factory VIP experience, which includes a KTM 50 SX and the support of factory racing riders and factory racing technicians during the event.

KTM Australia – New Zealand Events Coordinator Kyle Blunden said we are thrilled to once again offer the KTM Junior Supercross experience to aspiring young riders in Australia and New Zealand for 2019.

“KTM Junior Supercross is a program that began many years ago with our colleagues at KTM North America. We are very proud that we have been able to bring the program to the Supercross Championship here in Australia and New Zealand. This once in a lifetime experience that allows the rider and their families the opportunity to be a Factory Rider and a part of a Factory Race Team” said Blunden.

“With the assistance of the Team at S-X Open Auckland and AUS-X Open Melbourne, we are able to give these young riders the experience of a lifetime at world-class stadiums in front of thousands of fans, the smiles on their faces during the whole event says it all. The KTM Junior Supercross is an experience that AMA Supercross Champion Ryan Dungey says has stayed with him throughout his entire career.

“We’re very excited to open applications and look forward to welcoming our riders of 2019 to this year’s events.”

Following a dedicated track walk to learn the ins and outs of riding supercross, the KTM Junior Supercross will feature practice sessions and an excitement-packed exhibition race during the night show of S-X Open Auckland and AUS-X Open Melbourne programs.

KTM’s gift pack provided to each young rider will feature a full set of riding gear and goggles to keep, plus trophies will be awarded to podium finishers in the 1-2-3 positions.

Extensive off-track activities planned will include a guided tour of KTM’s Racing Team pit area, a special rider signing where kids can meet their KTM heroes and rub shoulders with some of the greatest Supercross riders on the planet.
