Joey Savatgy confirmed to race downunder in Melbourne and across the ditch

2019 World Supercross Championship Rookie of the Year and current World Number 8 – Joey Savatgy has been locked in for this year’s Monster Energy AUS-X Open Melbourne at Marvel Stadium on November 30 and the Monster Energy S-X Open Auckland at Mt Smart Stadium on November 16.

The 25-year-old American rider had an incredible rookie season in the premier 450SX1 class of the 2019 World Championship and will has confirmed he will compete in both Auckland and Melbourne in the S-X Open Auckland and AUS-X Open Melbourne which are Rounds 4 and 5 of the Australian Supercross Championship.

“I can’t wait to head Down Under for the Monster Energy AUS-X Open Melbourne. The calibre of riders that the event brings each year makes me so pumped to get out there and take it to the world’s best on Aussie soil,” Savatgy said.

“I think It’ll be tough in Auckland too, there are quite a few big names going over and I’m going to have to get everything dialled in straight away.
“Obviously, starts are huge and if you can get off the gate and put yourself in a position to win right away, that will go a long way against those guys.”

“It’ll be fast-paced and it’ll be full of action, exactly what the fans want!”

The S-X Open Auckland and AUS-X Open Melbourne are rounds 4 and 5 of the Australian Supercross Championship and are sanctioned by Motorcycling Australia (MA).

The AUS-X Open Melbourne is supported by the Victorian tourism and major events agency Visit Victoria and Monster Energy.

The S-X Open Auckland is proudly supported by Auckland Tourism Events & Economic Development (ATEED) and Monster Energy.

Both the Monster Energy S-X Open Auckland and AUS-X Open Melbourne events will form part of the S-X Open International FIM Oceania Supercross Championship, sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme with FIM Oceania status and sanctioning, it will be the most unique and credible international Supercross Championship outside of the USA in 2019.
